Discover M Nuance — Mirrors Filled with Poetry and Craftsmanship
The Volta Mirror M by Nuance is a sculptural design object where craftsmanship, sustainability and poetic meaning converge. Like all Nuance mirrors, Volta is named after a lake — in this case Lake Volta, the largest artificial lake in the world, located in Ghana.
This reference to water lies at the heart of the design. The mirror’s shape is fluid and organic, inspired by natural water surfaces and their ever-changing contours. The reflection is never rigid or sharp, but soft and alive, echoing the movement of light across water.
Nuance is a French design studio producing its mirrors in an artisanal workshop near Porto. Each Volta mirror is hand-cut and hand-bevelled, with an intentionally irregular bevel. This artisanal process ensures that every piece is unique, carrying its own subtle variations.
The mirrors are made from eco-responsible French mirror glass, sourced from Normandy. Nuance works with 30% recycled glass, water-based coatings, and minimises solvents, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable production.
A bevelled mounting hole allows the mirror to be installed using a hand-hammered screw, creating an ultra-flat wall installation with no visible hardware. Once mounted, the Volta mirror appears to rest gently against the wall, like a quiet pool of water settled in the interior.
The Volta Mirror M is a timeless design piece, ideal for high-end interiors and architectural projects where material integrity, meaning and craftsmanship are essential.
