This raffia bag by LOLO DECO blends softness with character. Handwoven in Madagascar and finished with embroidered poppy flowers, it carries an almost poetic feel. The natural raffia tone contrasts beautifully with the vivid red of the blooms.

LOLO DECO was born out of love for the country of Madagascar and its people. LOLO DECO was founded by three friends out of social involvement with the inhabitants who manufacture beautiful products in a still very traditional way. All profits go to the non-profit organisation HELP, which organises medical missions in third-world countries.

Madagascar is an earthly paradise with extraordinary flora & fauna. It is a country with incredibly rich biodiversity.

Raffia is a palm tree known for its very long leaves from which raffia fibres are extracted. Like vanilla and wild pepper with their unmistakable flavour, Madagascar raffia has unparalleled qualities in terms of suppleness, colour and strength.

Madagascar uses the fibres from these trees to traditionally weave baskets and hats. Once treated, the fibre is soft, pliable, strong, durable, easy to dye, non-shrinking when wet and biodegradable.
