Primitive carved chair Walaita #7

Walaita or Welayta refers to an ethnic group and former kingdom in southern Ethiopia, independent from the rest of the country until well into the 19th century.

These beautiful antique chairs from the early 20th century were hand carved from 1 piece of dark wood. Each chair shows imperfections belonging to its use and age which does not detract from its beauty, but rather makes it completely unique.
