Not far from war-torn Damascus, there is a small family company that makes this beautiful glassware in the traditional way. Glass blowing is a unique craft. Syrians developed the glassblowing art centuries ago and since then hardly anything has changed.
The recycled glass is first broken into small pieces, then it is blown by mouth in a traditional oven. When the oven is up to temperature, which takes a few days, glassblowers work day and night. The oven is rebuilt every year during Ramadan. They usually blow small glasses that are then filled with candy to give as a gift at weddings & births.
With this pitcher you bring a piece of history into your home. Dishwasher safe.
