Sugar spoon olive wood

"Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down .." We brought these spoons from Kenya and we love them ! Kenyan wood carvers craft each of these spoons from the richly grained wood of the wild olive. Carving is a tradition in Kenya and the technique is passed down generation by generation.

The handle is made of bone and "batiked " by placing wax on the white bone and dipping the bone a dark brown/black dye, resulting in beautiful patterns.
