The story

The Dogon is a community that lives close to a cliff in Mali. They are known because of their colorful ceremonies (dancing with masks) en their special lifestyle.

The traditional technique to make these beautiful indigo bogolans is the same as of the normal ones. But the indigo ones are not colored with mud, but with pigment of the indigo bush. Cotton is collected with the hands, spinned and woven until you have thin pieces. The thin pieces will be attached  to each other and will be colored with the tie-dye technique.

The blue indigo color stands for power, divinity and magical healing powers.
