Hand-made terracotta jars were used in ancient Turkey for making wine, olive oil or to preserve food during the non-productive months. The jars were sometimes partially buried in the mud floor of village houses. Often a nice jar was given as dowry when a bride moved in with her husband's family.
Some of these jars are over 150 years old and are exquisite and unique decorative items indoors or in the garden.
