The fortified historic city of Harar is located in the eastern part of Ethiopia. The city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is for the most part Islamic. This beautiful Quran tablet was used by Muslim students to practice Arabic calligraphy and learn the Quran. Goose feathers dipped in ink were used to write on it, again and again, each time being washed with water again. The tablet has become very smooth due to frequent use. Very unique and rare.
