The story
The Bolga basket is a traditional, handmade product from Ghana. It is made from elephant grass, which is supple and sturdy. The grass stalks are split vertically into 2 halves. Each half of the split straw is then tightly twisted by rolling it together to give it strenght. Basket weavers start with the bottom of the basket and work upwards. The handles are made of leather.
