The story

The green hills of Uganda are covered with banana trees. More than 75% of farmers grow them in their backyard. Because banana trees produce fruit once in their life, they are regularly replaced by new trees. The trunk, which would otherwise become waste, is dismantled layer by layer. It is a labor-intensive process. The fibers are used to make rope, mats, baskets, woven fabrics and even handmade paper.

Banana fibers are perfect for making placemats as the material repels water, is fire-resistant, tear-resistant and even recyclable.

A durable and beautiful placemat that gives your table setting a worldly look.
