Pigeon Service are decorative linen pigeons, made by hand en filled with flax seeds. The linen used comes from 5 different Belgian flax weavers and each fabric has its own structure.
In 2014 Christien Meindertsma designed for the Texture Flax Museum (Kortrijk) an installation with 200 handmade pigeons. Her inspiration came from the traveling and espionage pigeons that were locked into the building of the Linen Thread Company during the First World War.
